Dear Supporters of Coach’s Corner,
Shortly after being promoted to Head Football Coach at Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs, Steve Harkey of Coach’s Corner of Metro Atlanta called and introduced himself to me. After a face to face discussion I learned that Steve’s mission is simply to help the High School Football Coach do his job better.
Steve recognizes that the coach of a high school football team has one of the toughest jobs in America. Each and every year of my eighteen years coaching, due to societal influences, the job of leading young people has become increasingly complex. The demands of boosters, teachers and administrators are at times, overwhelming. There are so many things that lead young men astray and there are so many distractions which can keep young people from achieving their goals.
Steve Harkey and Coach’s Corner have provided a rock for me to lean on. Steve and his outstanding organization have been a great source of encouragement and moral support to me since I was hired last February.
Through my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the tireless efforts of Steve, I know have the strength to lead 70 young men toward the path of being the selfless, dedicated leaders that the future demands. I also try to bridge the gap that exists due to the plethora of single parent families.
Steve has inspired and lifted me… so that I can lift these young people and help them on their journey to become MEN. At Riverwood we focus on being good citizens and in competing in a manner that glorifies God. With Steve’s help, we will continue in this endeavor for years to come.
Sincerely,
Kent Sparks
